Tracking ChangelogUTM Parameters
Setting up UTM Parameters on your Campaign
UTM parameters are set up along with your funnel on step 9 of the campaign setup process or when you are creating an additional funnel on an existing campaign:
When you expand into the advanced settings, you will see our default tracking ID parameter, sqdid, and a field for a dynamic Partner ID parameter. Squaredance recommends the use of utm_medium as the parameter to track Partner IDs, however this may be configured to your needs in this field.
Additional UTM Parameters can be manually added directly into your URL, however these parameters will not be dynamic.
Let's use https://google.com as an example with the following scenario:
"I want to be able to track dynamic partner ids, campaign name, and identify traffic from Squaredance."
- First, open the advanced settings and fill the "Partner ID URL Parameter" with utm_medium.
- Append utm_source=squaredance and utm_campaign="your-campaign-name" onto the landing page.
- Replace "your-campaign-name" with the name or number of your actual campaign
- URL: https://google.com?utm_source=squaredance&utm_medium="your=campaign-name"
- Click on Generate Pixels and proceed with testing your funnel
Things to know about UTM Parameters:
- Funnel URLs cannot be edited once the funnel is verified and set up. This means that UTM parameters cannot be changed or added on an existing funnel.
- You can send messages to partners or create a banner announcement to update partners on new funnels or links
