Utilizing the Facebook Conversions API

A newer method to integrate FB tracking into SQD is the Facebook Conversion API. This integration will establish a server-to-server connection with the ad networks and send events data to the pixels on Partner's ad accounts.

The Server Side Events feature provides the following benefits to Partners

1. Less signal loss when compared to cookie-based events
2. Easy integration with just a few quick actions

To set this up, please follow the steps outlined below. You are able to integrate multiple pixels if required but be sure to create the following 2 pixels, Multi-event and Purchase, for each unique Facebook Pixel ID and API Key.

Step 1: How to locate your Facebook Ads Pixel ID and API Key

1. Access your Event Manager found in the All Tools section of your Facebook Ads account.

2. Click on the Settings tab.

3. Locate your Pixel ID near the top of the settings.

4. Scroll down to the section titled: Conversions API

Under "Set up manually", you should see an option to Generate an access token.

5. Once you click the link, a Token string will be generated.  Copy and save the token somewhere secure as it will be required in the next step.

Step 2: How to set up pixels on Squaredance using your Pixel ID and API Key

1. Select the Pixels tab of the active campaign you are setting up.

2. Click on Create Pixel.

You will need to create a Purchase pixel AND a Multi Events pixel for each pair of Pixel ID and API key.

3. Create a name for pixel.

4a. For the Multi Events pixel, choose "Funnel Events" in the drop down list under "Fires At"

Select Facebook Conversions API in the "Format" field.

Insert the Pixel ID and Access Token that was generated in Step 1.

4b. For the Purchase Pixel, select "Purchase" in the drop down list under "Fires At"

Select Facebook Conversions API in the "Format" field.

Insert the Pixel ID and Access Token in the respective fields.

5. Once the forms are filled, simply click Save to initiate Server Side integration.
