Tracking ChangelogUploading Old Sales using Conversions API
While we have made every attempt to fire your Google pixels as accurately as possible, there may be situations that certain elements of the page that may prevent your pixels from tracking correctly on Google. As a way to ensure that you are able to capture every conversion you tracked from your targeted customers on Google, you can use the offline conversion imports function in Google Ads and Adswords.
In order for this function to work correctly, you'll need to ensure that your Tracking URL (redirect or redirectless) is configured correctly to append the gclid value so that your Google Click ID passes to Squaredance. We highly recommend reviewing our document on subids to better understand this.
As of April 26th, 2021, Apple's new ATT policies (iOS 14) will impact the ability for Google to track conversions through the offline conversion import. This is because Google is no longer able to generate and pass the gclid value on Ads displayed in iOS apps. Therefore, you may see a decrease in the gclids generated in Squaredance's reports on traffic originating from iOS apps. Fortunately, web ad traffic will remain unimpacted and we will update guidelines on possible workarounds regarding this issue. To learn more about this issue, click here.
Step 1
Go to the Squaredance Partners platform and select the campaign that you are looking to configure your Google Ads account to. Then head to the Funnels tab where you'll see the SubID fields available. Depending on which field you prefer, you'll need to add {gclid}
(Use {msclkid} for Bing ads) into either of the c1, c2, or c3 fields. In the example below, we chose to pass the value through the c2 field.
Step 2
Copy the link and add that URL to your Ads Campaign and configure the rest of the necessary tracking information in order set the campaign Active. One the URL is configured, your Squaredance link will now pass the gclid to our reporting system which will come in handy once your campaign starts to see sales.
Step 3
If you notice a significant discrepancy in your Google Ads tracking and Squaredance's reports, then you'll need to upload offline conversions. You can head over to your profile on the platform and click on the settings button.
You'll then need to click on the Conversion API tab which will provide you the ability to copy your unique API URL.
Your API URL should look similar to this: https://api2.jumbleberry.com/v2/org/1/campaigns/reporting/google?dateRange=2D&conversion_name=Purchase
You'll want to copy that provided URL as you'll need to use it to import your tracking data to Google.
Step 4
In your AdWords account, you'll want to head to the campaign that you configured originally in Steps 1 & 2. Navigate to the header and under the Measurement tab select Conversions
Step 5
You'll see your conversion actions and to the left-hand side of that you'll see an option called Uploads. Click on Uploads.
Step 6
Once you're at uploads, you'll see a schedules tab on the page. Click on that and paste the API URL into the source URL and set your source option to HTTPS. You don't need to enter a username or password, but in order to automate the uploads you'll need set the time and frequency. We recommend you set whichever time you prefer, but set the frequency to every 24 Hours and then click save & preview.
The offline import should automatically detect the gclid data in the report API from Squaredance. You'll then be able to see your Conversion data update with the exact amount of sales you tracked from Squaredance.
